A colorful adventure

I finally had the nerve to go through my closet. It's always such a drama because I compare it to life editing: I hate deciding what to toss away. This time I managed to get rid of much stuff, though, things that were hanging there for ever just because, and made space for all my winter clothes. I kept buying them compulsively, they were running wild. I didn't even know I had some items.

The event was so major that it deserves a photo. 

It's all neat and practical now. I find it just amazing that grey is the basic color in my wardrobe, considering I don't even fancy it a lot. I must have kept preferring it through the last years because it matches with purple and shades of pink so well. But don't worry, it's not about my problem with wardrobes that I want to write about today. I've got something more interesting to share. 

My two beautiful days out in the nature, for example, enjoying and capturing autumn colors. The places I visited are stunning and made me realize they could be a splendid photographic itineray around here. So I put it up for you to enjoy. It'd be such a shame not to share them. You'll be impressed. 

I started with driving up to Lipica, in Slovenia. It's gotten to be a nice ritual for me, going there every change of season trying to capture the magic. "Winter is an etching, spring a watercolor, summer an oil painting and autumn a mosaic of them all." (Stanley Horowitz) There I was, then, armed with my reflex, comfy shoes and with a strong dose of caffeine to be more alert to the surrounding beauty.  

 The flora is particularly rich and beautiful in this area. 

I continued to Basovizza and shot like crazy in the depths of its massive fields, mainly surrounding the foiba area.

The road through these enchanting fields goes straight to Val Rosandra, a protected area, paradise for hikers, climbers or simple picnic addicts. Needless to say, it's perfect for photographer freaks like me. 

I descended the valley and then went up again on the other side, crossed the Slovene border and drove up to Socerb, home to a medieval castle that is now a restaurant.

Its position on a cliff means it's rounded by a lovely forest where walking if fascinating and gives you the thrill thanks to the panoramic views over the gulf and abandoned houses.

Descending the hill is as lovely as climbing them. After a narrow road, finding yourself in front of this scenic view is priceless!
