Yesterday

Things can't always be this low, right? Something nice, even a detail can happen anytime unexpectly and cheer up your day. Yesterday was that day for me. A colleague visiting Trieste brought a delicious gift from Abruzzo, bocconotti from Lanciano, whom I had a breakfast treat with.

They're so quintessential home and made my day, which continued out in the nature in the afternoon with my lil princess. It was sunny and warm, the perfect Autumn afternoon to hang around and enjoy. So as soon as Alice finished her homeworks, we made our way to the country  nearby. We found a scenario at its best, with splendour shades of green, yellow, pink and lots of flowers. The perfect afternoon to regenerate yourself after 13 days of Bora wind and sad moods.

Now Autumn's fire burns slowly along the woods,
And day by day the dead leaves fall and melt,
And night by night the monitory blast
Wails in the key-hold, telling how it pass'd
O'er empty fields, or upland solitudes,
Or grim wide wave; and now the power is felt
Of melancholy, tenderer in its moods
Than any joy indulgent summer dealt.
Dear friends, together in the glimmering eve,
Pensive and glad, with tones that recognise
The soft invisible dew in each one's eyes,
It may be, somewhat thus we shall have leave
To walk with memory,--when distant lies
Poor Earth, where we were wont to live and grieve.
 (William Allingham)

Since we were so very close to the border with Slovenia, we  decided to go to Lipica Stud Farm, which is always a hit for our relaxed afternoons out in the nature, because it offers so much to see and do. We strolled through the well-tended grounds, visited the spotless stables and paddocks and, mainly, witnessed the famous Lipizan horses in action.

Alice wanted her part of fun, of course. So we booked the usual ponyback ride for her.

While waiting for her ride to end, I was lucky enough to spot these two pony dudes cuddling. How sweet!

Too bad when I got to the car for our drive back, I realized my mobile phone was missing. It's another unlucky event going on in my personal Murphy's Law cycle. The stolen items of my car first, hurting love moments later, leave alone the little but nasty healthy problems in between and the usual family crap ... argh, will this ever end?

  1. Lovely photos my dear and what a nice day.
The white and brown cakes look familiar to me - we have them here too but not as cupcakes though; they're baked more like in the shape of a long box.
Keep your mind on the lovely/positive things of your life and your bad luck will visit someone else. ;-)
    Have a nice weekend sweetie!
    Love, Birna
